A Practical, Numbers-Driven Approach
Tyler Tost brings a rare mix of backgrounds to real estate — and that combination changes how he helps clients. Before moving fully into real estate, Tyler worked in the telecom industry as an engineer. That career built habits of thought that never leave: systems thinking, analytical problem-solving, attention to structural detail, and comfort working through complex processes with precision.
Those same instincts applied directly when Tyler moved into mortgage brokering between 2002 and 2025. As a mortgage broker, he gained firsthand experience with the financing side of real estate — lender requirements, qualification calculations, affordability structures, rate strategy, and the stress that often comes when buyers try to align the right purchase with the right financing under real market pressure. He understands what banks look for. He understands how financing affects what a buyer can realistically pursue, and at what pace.
Today, Tyler works full-time in real estate alongside Crystal Tost and CalgaryListings Group. His role spans client guidance, buyer strategy, negotiation, seller preparation, marketing systems, and the operational side of keeping a transaction moving smoothly from offer to possession.
Helping Buyers Understand
the Full Picture
For buyers, Tyler's mortgage background is especially valuable. Most buyers work with a REALTOR® and a mortgage broker as separate professionals — they talk to one about what they want, and the other about what they can afford. Tyler bridges that gap. He understands both sides of the equation fluently, which means he can help buyers think clearly about the real cost of a purchase before they ever write an offer.
He understands how different financing structures affect which properties make sense. He knows what lenders look for in a condo building. He understands how rate differences compound over amortization. He has worked with buyers who were pre-approved in principle but ran into qualification complications at the property level — and he has helped them navigate that honestly and early, not at the last minute.
"Buying a home is not only emotional. It is also structural, financial, and strategic. The clients who come to me already knowing what they want — I help them understand everything that should inform that decision."
For first-time buyers in particular, Tyler's background makes a real difference. First-time buyers often have the most questions about financing — and those questions are frequently answered incompletely by people with a single frame of reference. Tyler can speak to the financing process from experience, not just awareness.
A Systems-Based Approach
to Selling
For sellers, Tyler brings the same systematic thinking to preparation, pricing, and marketing. A strong sale does not happen by accident. It comes from positioning the home correctly, preparing it to show well, pricing it accurately against the current market, and maintaining momentum from the day of listing through the negotiation and conditions period.
Tyler works closely with Crystal on pricing strategy, marketing plans, and the operational execution that keeps a listing performing. He handles much of the digital marketing infrastructure behind CalgaryListings Group — the systems that ensure listings receive consistent, professional exposure across the right platforms.
He also pays close attention to the numbers behind each transaction — carrying costs, net proceeds projections, negotiation mechanics, and the timing dynamics of a simultaneous buy-and-sell. For clients navigating that situation, Tyler's ability to model the transaction from both sides is particularly valuable.
